Hello! Welcome back for our 5-week check-in of the Better Homes and Gardens One Room Challenge. Only a few more weeks to go-but lots to do by November 29!

We are in the thick of things, making slow and steady progress, and at the part of the renovation where the most “unanticipated issues” are likely to arise. Here’s the latest…
As you might have seen on my Instagram stories (all saved to this highlight!), we initially were planning to keep the existing tub. However, once we demo’d the old tile and walls, we saw that the old tub was damaged (unanticipated problem 1 of this post). So, we scrapped that and got a new, plain and cheap tub from Lowe’s. Well, the new tub didn’t quite line up with the old plumbing for that tub (unanticipated problem 2 of this post), so we needed to re-align all of that. However, when we went to go do that, we saw that there were some joists in the way of where the plumbing needed to be for the drain (unanticipated problem 3 of this post). So, we had to carefully carve out enough area for the new drain (we’re talking a few centimeters), then re-do the plumbing to work with the new tub, and make sure the new tub was still appropriately sloped. This took a good few days with many unanticipated trip to Lowe’s and Home Depot. C’est la vie.
Next, we are working on installing the backerboard on the walls and floor, which I will then waterproof and then we will FINALLY be able to tile! Stay tuned – things are about to get especially fun on my instagram stories!
